October 2011 Garden Club Meeting Update

Hey ladies,

Thanks so much for coming to the meeting. I hope you enjoyed our speaker, Chad Harris from the Garden Gate, and took home some valuable garden tips.

I know you enjoyed the fabulous lunch our hostesses, Kim Zibilich (head), Joni Diaz, Jan Brown, Louise Kirchberg, Ros Wingerter and Gloria Moore served us. Recipes for the fall salad, quick pasta and pumpkin bars, were sent via email.

Also, Xiomara Brewster has forwarded her recipe for coffee with ice cream from our September meeting.

the coffee recipe is 2/3 cup of instant coffee crystals, 3 cups boiling water , 1 cup of honey, 2 quarts whole milk, 3 quarts vanilla ice cream and 2 cups of rum. The day before, dissolve coffee in boiling water, add honey and mix well. Cool and refrigerate. Put coffee in punch bowl, add milk and rum. Scoop in ice cream and server about 40.

We have 100 acres of rolling hills with golf carts waiting to help you explore our nursery. Not to mention lots of beautiful plants and trees to look at (maybe even a cow or two) ha ha! Although this announcement comes late in the month, the signs in the yards have been long enough for several members to mention how much they admired the featured gardens. Congratulations to the winners who faced stiff competition at the time when many gardens in Lake Vista are still in excellent shape.

September 2011 Garden Club Meeting

Dear Garden Club members,
Thank you for attending our "start of the year" meeting at Therese Kessels' lovely home. Despite tropical storm heading our way, we had a very good attendance of more than forty. Our hostesses outdid themselves with fabulous lunch food & due to popular demand, Lori has already emailed everybody the recipe for her delicious pizza cookies.
Your concern for the condition of our community flower beds has been duly noted & an update regarding their maintenance will be given at our next get together on Friday, October 7 at Michele Vignes home at 41 Thrasher St.
